Proprietor Beth Boyes (BHSI, UKCC3) started Quob Stables with just one pony back in 1992. In 1998, Quob Stables moved to its current location in Durley, where it has developed and expanded into the successful equestrian centre it is now, catering for all standards and ages of rider.
Michelle Pack (BHS II) previously worked in London and joined Quob Stables in 2015 as our Yard Manager after moving back to Southampton to be closer to family. Michelle looks after all the horses, trains all the staff and keeps everything running smoothly on a day to day basis.
Jenny is no stranger to Quob Stables, having learnt to ride here as a child before owning her own horse. Jenny then went on to work at a dressage yard, competing up to Advanced Medium level. Jenny has also worked at well known store Scats before joining our Reception team in 2017.
Gemma is a BHSII/L4 training for her BHSI/L5. She has has taught on and off at Quob for many years, and now assists the running of the yard as well as teaching. Gemmas’ main passion lies with eventing, having backed and produced from a 3 year old, her current warmblood.
Alex started out as a Pony Clubber here at Quob Stables, and is now our popular horseball coach on Wednesday nights. She starting to playing horseball in 2013, playing for London Reds team in the first division. She also competes in dressage and show jumping in her spare time!
After starting working outside on the Quob yard, Toni now in the back office- ensuring the HR, holidays and staff contracts run smoothly. She owns Pony Club ponies Holly and Indie, as well as her own ex-racehorse called Nick (pictured) who she competes. Toni has her BHS Stage 2.
Lucy has ridden since she was 4 years old, and grew up taking part in Pony Club working up to her Pony Club C+ test. She previously worked at the yard where she kept my horses and brought on her ex- racehorse. She also has her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management.
Briony is a UKCC2 and Stage 4 Teach and SM qualified instructor as well as a equine physiotherapist and so can often be seen treating the horses here at Quob as well as teaching our BHS Stage courses and private clients. Briony also owns and competes her own horses too.
Caitlin is 18 years old, and joined us in 2018 as an apprentice through Haddon Training which is is continuing here. She is also working through her BHS Stage Exams here and is already becoming a popular instructor with the children’s lessons such as Pony Play Time.
Lily (BHS Stage 3 Care, ND in Equine Studies) has been riding since she was 4 years old and has experience of working at various stables including the Devils Horseman who own the Lloyds bank horse! She has also competed in showing, show jumping and dressage.
After working part time with us for a few years, we are pleased that Jodie has given up office life in the NHS to join us full time. Jodie previously taught at Gleneagles and is very popular with our Pony Club and University riders, and is training up through her BHS Stages.
Gain qualifications while working in a practical environment! We are often looking for enthusiastic full time Apprentices to join our friendly yard team and train for BHS exams and KEITS Apprenticeships. If you are over 16 years old and have some free time, we are looking for volunteers to lead in children’s lessons (week days and weekends) and pony parties.
