Founder & Proprietor
Proprietor Beth Boyes (BHSI, UKCC3) started Quob Stables with just one pony back in 1992. In 1998, Quob Stables moved to its current location in Durley, where it has developed and expanded into the successful equestrian centre it is now, catering for all standards and ages of rider.
Assistant Yard Manager
Gemma is a BHSII/L4 training for her BHSI/L5. She has has taught on and off at Quob for many years, and now assists the running of the yard as well as teaching. Gemmas’ main passion lies with eventing, having backed and produced from a 3 year old, her current warmblood.
HayRack Cafe Manager
Jane joined Quob Stables in 2015, and manages our onsite cafe ‘The HayRack Cafe’. She works full time cooking up delicious lunches and breakfasts for all our staff and customers. Jane is always happy to chat and keeps everyone up to date with all the Quob gossip!
Full Time Receptionist
Roseanne has joined our Reception team after moving to the area to complete her BSc Animal Management with a focus on Equine Performance at Sparsholt College. Now she has finished studying, Rose is hoping to compete her horse and work through her BHS exams.
Part Time Groom
Lucy has ridden since she was 4 years old, and grew up taking part in Pony Club working up to her Pony Club C+ test. She previously worked at the yard where she kept my horses and brought on her ex- racehorse. She also has her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management.
Instructor and Receptionist
Lily (BHS Stage 3 Care, ND in Equine Studies) has been riding since she was 4 years old and has experience of working at various stables including the Devils Horseman who own the Lloyds bank horse! She has also competed in showing, show jumping and dressage.
Full time Instructor
After working part time with us for a few years, we are pleased that Jodie has given up office life in the NHS to join us full time. Jodie previously taught at Gleneagles and is very popular with our Pony Club and University riders, and has her BHS Stage 3 Teach and is working towards her Stage 4.
Michelle Pack (BHS II) previously worked in London and joined Quob Stables in 2015 as our Yard Manager after moving back to Southampton to be closer to family. Michelle looks after all the horses, trains all the staff and keeps everything running smoothly on a day to day basis.
Kim Hayden is our Show Organiser and responsible for running and organising all our British Showjumping, British Dressage and unaffiliated shows. She is also a Sports Therapist, with a keen interest in horse and rider biomechanics.
Alex started out as a Pony Clubber here at Quob Stables, and is now our popular horseball coach on Wednesday nights. She starting to playing horseball in 2013, playing for London Reds team in the first division. She also competes in dressage and show jumping in her spare time!
After starting working outside on the Quob yard, Toni now in the back office- ensuring the HR, holidays and staff contracts run smoothly. She owns Pony Club ponies Holly and Indie, as well as her own ex-racehorse called Nick (pictured) who she competes. Toni has her BHS Stage 2.
Part time Instructor
Briony is a UKCC2 and Stage 4 Teach and SM qualified instructor as well as a equine physiotherapist and so can often be seen treating the horses here at Quob as well as teaching our BHS Stage courses and private clients. Briony also owns and competes her own horses too.
Full Time Apprentice
Megan has recently joined our Apprenticeship Scheme with KEITS and is also training up through the BHS stages. She is no stranger to Quob, having previously been a Quob Stables Pony Clubber and progressing on to livery with her own horse Trigger.
Full Time Apprentice
Matt joined us Quob Stables in 2019 as a full time apprenticeship with KEITS after finishing school.
He is working his way through out the BHS Stages and currently teaches Leaders, Steerers and Pony Parties.
Jenny is no stranger to Quob Stables, having learnt to ride here as a child before owning her own horse. Jenny then went on to work at a dressage yard, competing up to Advanced Medium level. Jenny has also worked at well known store Scats before joining our Reception team in 2017.
Part Time Instructor
Kayleigh Daykin (BHS AI, BSc (Hons) Equine Studies, HND Horse Management) is one of our popular part time instructor here. Kayleigh is fantastic at bringing on a the baby horses at Quob and is often seen schooling and competing as well as teaching.
Claire started at Quob Stables in 2015, and runs the Quob Stables Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and website. Claire previously worked at Guide Dogs for the Blind and Global Herbs. Claire has ridden since she was three years old, has her BHS Stage 2 and also her own horse, Sandro (pictured).
Full Time Apprentice
Caitlin is 18 years old, and joined us in 2018 as an apprentice through Haddon Training which she is continuing here. She is also working through her BHS Stage Exams here and is already becoming a popular instructor with the children’s lessons such as Pony Play Time.
Full Time Groom
Michelle (BHS Stage 3 Care, FdSc Equine Studies) has had her own horses since she was 8 years old; competing in show jumping, dressage and eventing. After working as a microbiologist for 30 years, she had a career change to join us and is working through the BHS exams.

We are often looking for enthusiastic full time Apprentices to join our friendly yard team and train for BHS exams and KEITS Apprenticeships. If you are over 16 years old and have some free time, we are looking for volunteers to lead in children’s lessons (week days and weekends) and pony parties.
